Chamisa Energy - Garrett Thornburg, Co-founder of Chamisa Energy is Chairman of the two Thornburg companies which he founded.  Thornburg Investment Management,® (TIM) established in 1982, is an employee-owned investment firm with over $82 billion in assets in nine fixed income and seven equity mutual funds which are also available to institutions and individuals as separate accounts. TIM is known for providing Strategies for Building Real Wealth. Thornburg Securities Corporation,® established in 1984, is a broker/dealer firm that distributes Thornburg Mutual Funds.

Prior to moving to Santa Fe in 1982, Mr. Thornburg was employed at Bear, Stearns & Co., where he was a Limited Partner and founding member of its public finance department. Prior to that, he was Chief Financial Officer of New York State’s Urban Development Corporation, where he was instrumental in restoring the company’s financial solvency and structured the development of the first building in Battery Park City. Mr. Thornburg also served as co-financial advisor to the State of New Mexico’s Board of Finance in its first bond refunding activity ever undertaken.

He holds a BA from Williams College and an MBA from Harvard University. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Investment Company Institute (ICI) and serves on the Board of Directors of both the National Dance Institute of New Mexico and the New Mexico School for the Arts. Mr. Thornburg is a former board member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT), College of Santa Fe, Santa Fe Community Foundation, and the Santa Fe Institute. In 2004 on behalf of Thornburg Companies, Mr Thornburg received the Association of Fundraising Professional's Outstanding Business/Corporation in Philanthropy award. In 2010 Mr. Thornburg received the Journal Santa Fe's Philanthropist of the Year Award.


Chamisa Energy - Alissa Oppenheimer, Co-founder and Managing Director, Chamisa Energy LLC. Ms. Oppenheimer has 20 plus years of experience in the energy industry. As a Technology Manager and Account Executive at Gas Research Institute in Chicago, IL. She managed multimillion dollar public/private research, development and commercialization projects related to the use of natural gas in existing and emerging end-use technologies. Ms. Oppenheimer also  spent eight years doing resource planning, economic analysis and modeling for Xcel Energy. She worked on both the electric and gas sides of Xcel’s business. Resource planning included long range capacity planning of both conventional generation resources and renewable resources for inclusion in the Xcel Energy portfolio.


Dresser-Rand - Jim Heid is the Vice President of Global Business Solution and a member of the executive leadership staff for Dresser-Rand Company.  He was appointed in 2003, responsible for Alliances and Major Solution Activity Worldwide. In addition, he has responsibility for Separable Compressor, Liquid Natural Gas & Integrated Compression Systems Business Units, as well as SMARTCAES and Power Recovery Marketing Business Units.

Crescent Power, Inc. - Dr. Shams Siddiqi is President of Crescent Power, Inc., is a key designer of the retail deregulated ERCOT market. He designed most of the advanced features of the Texas Nodal Market including the Day-Ahead Market with Congestion Revenue Rights, energy and Ancillary Service co-optimization, Texas Two-Step mitigation in Security Constrained Economic Dispatch, Constraint Competitiveness Test, and mitigation methods in the various ERCOT-run markets. Dr. Siddiqi managed the power portfolio and negotiated contracts for the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) for over 12 years. Prior to joining the LCRA, he worked as Research Associate at the Center for Energy Studies at the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Siddiqi received the B. S. degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology in 1988 and the M. S. and Ph. D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1989 and 1993, respectively. He is a member of IEEE, International Association for Energy Economics, and Gulf Coast Power Association. He has published numerous refereed papers in the IEEE Transactions on Power Systems and has made significant contributions to field of Power Economics.

RnR Engineering - Deborah Lewis, P.E. , Deborah has nearly 25 years of experience in the electric utility and renewable energy industries. Her background is in transmission planning and analysis, resource planning with an emphasis on renewable energy, and project development. Recognizing the need for an experienced utility engineer to assist wind developers in understanding the transmission and resource adequacy worlds, she started RnR Engineering in 1997. She was instrumental in the legislative push for transmission expansion and the resultant PUC regulations and ERCOT CREZ transmission design. She has provided her expertise to the storage community for nearly ten years, appreciating early on that this “holy grail” will allow a deeper penetration of renewable resources and full utilization of cherished transmission resources. She has an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Texas


WH Power Consultants - W. Howard Phillips has been a Partner with WH Power Consultants since 1987.
